Sciatica
Sciatica
Written by Dr. Keegan Johnston, DC ~ Vernon Chiropractor
Pain that starts in the low back and slowly creeps down the leg is a condition called “sciatica.”
Sciatica occurs when there is compression of the sciatic nerve, the largest and longest nerve in the human body. This nerve extends from the low back to the toes, running through the buttocks and into the back of the thighs. When a person has poor posture in their low back—from excessive sitting, previous accidents or sporting injuries—it irritates the nerves that exit the spine, including the sciatic nerve.
Most people just live with the pain and hope it will go away on its own. However, I have seen this lead to pain so bad that the person is unable to work, play or enjoy the activities they love.
Chiropractic care in Vernon is a natural solution proven to help not only take the pain away, but also correct the underlying posture problem to ensure that it doesn’t come back again.
